How do we do it ?
Lift shafts are out of sight, enclosed, and rarely accessed by anyone except lift technicians. This makes the removal process difficult to picture, so here is a simple breakdown of how we carry out lift removals in Sydney.
Our lift removal process is designed to be safe, efficient, and fully compliant with industry standards. We provide professional lift removals in Sydney for all lift types. We begin by attaching a temporary winch system to the existing lift car. Our technicians work from the top of the lift car using the installed top of car handrails to control access and prevent fall hazards while dismantling the equipment.
Once safe access is established, we remove the motor, traction ropes, and all top of shaft components such as controllers, cabinets, and associated wiring. We then work systematically from the top of the lift shaft downwards. This includes cutting and removing the lift car rails, counterweight rails, electrical conduits, cabling, old lighting, and landing door equipment.
To maintain building safety and cleanliness, we install hoardings on all required levels. These hoardings allow us to remove landing doors safely while keeping each floor dust tight and secure. They also provide a noticeable reduction in noise for building occupants.
As we reach the lower part of the shaft, we remove the lift car and either the counterweight tank or the hydraulic ram and cylinder, depending on the lift type. All materials are then moved to our trucks and taken off site for responsible recycling. Recycling dockets are provided for all removed materials.
Once the shaft is completely cleared, we carry out a complimentary patch and paint of the pit area to leave it clean, fresh, and ready for a new lift installation.
